2026 Multi-Institutional Mock Study Section, hosted by the Indiana CTSI, to take place October 28 via Zoom

The Indiana CTSI, in partnership with North Carolina Translational and Clinical Sciences Institute, University of Central Florida College of Medicine, Case Western Reserve University Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative, University of Pittsburgh Health Sciences Institute for Clinical Research Education, the Clinical and Translational Science Institute at the University of Minnesota, and Yale Center for Clinical Investigation, will host this year’s virtual mock study section on October 28 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. EST. This will be the second year that the Indiana CTSI offers this training experience.

The two-part workshop will allow participants to learn the process of NIH grant review. In part one, participants will learn about what happens during a study section, and then in part two they will take on the role of an NIH Study Section reviewer, reviewing K- and R- level grants and discussing peers and experienced faculty. Geared toward postdoctoral and junior faculty who are eligible to submit NIH or NIH equivalent grants, there is no previous grant submission requirement. Predoctoral students are also encouraged to attend to observe the review process.

The Mock Study Section was a great learning experience! The session was an excellent learning opportunity and was very well organized. This was an excellent example of a positive learning environment where everyone felt welcome.
