Research Jam

Research Jam is a unique service that brings together researchers and community members to better understand and create solutions to health challenges. The program’s goal is to ensure that research is relevant, impactful, and beneficial to the communities it aims to serve.
Research Jam uses human-centered design principles and practices to research in order to explore, create, and test problems and identify solutions in health care and well-being.
How Research Jam Works
The Research Jam team facilitates engagement sessions, called “Jams,” where participants collaborate to share their experiences and perspectives around health topics of interest with researchers. Participants include people with health conditions, their caregivers, medical providers, and the broader community.
Research Jam uses human-centered design research methods to allow people to generate ideas based on their lived experiences, ensuring that research questions and solutions are meaningful and relevant.
By incorporating diverse perspectives and engaging participants in activities that uncover deep insights, Research Jam fosters innovative solutions and approaches to health challenges. This creative approach facilitates out-of-the-box thinking.
As design experts, the Research Jam team takes learnings from research and synthesizes them into tailored, production-ready design solutions such as study recruitment materials, health intervention components, decision-aids, methods for disseminating results, and more.
How To Work With Research Jam
The best time to connect with Research Jam is in the early stages of planning for your next research project proposal. The team will brainstorm with you on how to best incorporate human-centered design research into your work, provide a budget estimate and justification, and will assist you with your proposal development.
