CADI Summit and CE’s available

On February 16, 2023, in observance of American Heart Month, the Cardiovascular and Diabetes Coalition of Indiana (CADI) held its inaugural CADI Summit.

Participants heard from subject matter experts on a variety of topics related to cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and stroke. Dr. Erik Hayes and Dr. Scott Fenstermacher, Taylor University, shared the Invitation Program model as a holistic approach to prevention and treatment of chronic disease. A Stroke Survivorship Panel, featuring Dr. Carrie Lawrence and her caretaker Dr. Allison Tomusk, shared Carrie’s courageous journey as a survivor of two strokes that left her partially paralyzed. They were joined by Erika Millsaps and Allison Swihart of Reid Health, who spoke about the resources available to survivors and their caretakers as they recover from stroke and embrace “the new you.” Danielle Patterson of the American Heart Association (AHA) ended the summit with the importance and tips for advocacy on a state government level to improve cardiovascular health throughout Indiana.
