IU Center for Bioethics to host three-credit fall course on Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) with help from the Indiana CTSI
Starting Thursday, August 27, the IU Center for Bioethics, with involvement from the Indiana CTSI’s Bioethics and Subject Advocacy Program (BSAP), will host GRDM-G504, “Introduction to Research Ethics.” The course will take place weekly through December 10, and will be led by Colin Halverson, PhD. There will be a required take-home midterm and final exam.
“Introduction to Research Ethics” provides an in-depth introduction to a wide range of issues related to scientific integrity and the responsible conduct of research. Topics of discussion will include big data, data privacy, genomics, precision health, and working with vulnerable populations. Faculty from BSAP will also guest lecture.
The course fulfills NIH RCR requirements for trainees on K, T, F, and R grants. To register to attend the course you must be enrolled at Indiana University. Faculty and researchers who are interested may apply as a non-degree seeking graduate student and can learn more information on how to do so.
For questions, please contact Seamus Donahue, MA, program manager for BSAP. To learn more about additional RCR offerings through the Indiana CTSI, visit the BSAP website.
