Gerardo Maupomé, PhD, is the new Indiana CTSI navigator for IU Indianapolis
The Indiana CTSI is pleased to announce that Gerardo Maupomé, PhD, BDS, MSc, is the campus navigator for Indiana University Indianapolis. He succeeds Silvia Bigatti, PhD, who retired this spring. His new role was effective June 1.
Maupomé is Chancellor’s Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health. He holds several additional appointments at IU and elsewhere, including the Center for Urban Health, Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, the Center for Global Health, and the Richard L. Roudebush Veterans Administration Medical Center.
He already holds a leadership role with the Indiana CTSI, having served as associate director of Community Health Partnerships since 2020. His primary interests are in oral epidemiology and dental health services research.
Throughout his career, he has built cross-institutional, community-centered collaborations to reduce health disparities, and gained extensive experience connecting investigators with public health and research organizations.
“I’m looking forward to leveraging this expertise to forge new interdisciplinary teams and to expand clinical and translational research across our partner institutions,” he said.
