The Postdoc Challenge offers postdoctoral researchers with valuable proposal writing and reviewing experience in areas related to translational research.

This mechanism is meant to provide more than funding—it includes an integrated professional development infrastructure for writing and reviewing grants. Qualified applicants for proposal submission are also encouraged to participate as reviewers, regardless of whether an application is submitted. This engagement provides experience in the review process in line with NIH peer review.

Annual RFAs will be released in December, with applications due in March.

Two ways to engage – take part in one or both

Option 1: Apply for an Indiana CTSI Core Pilot Grant

The Indiana CTSI Core Pilot Grant is an opportunity to compete for a $5,000 one year award in the form of an expense account for use of core facility services. Funding is to be used ONLY for services provided by the Indiana CTSI designated core facilities. Professional workshops will also be available to support your application.

Option 2: Serve as a Grant Reviewer

Gain NIH-style peer review experience with professional development support.
