Project Lead: Carol Weiss-Kennedy, Director, IU Health Bloomington Hospital, Community Health Co-Project Lead: Catherine Sherwood-Laughlin, Clinical Professor, Department of Applied Health Science, IU School of Public Health-Bloomington Co-Project Lead: Lesa Huber, Associate Clinical Professor, Department of Applied Health Science, IU School of Public Health-Bloomington Co-Project Lead: Katherine Connelly, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, School of Informatics and Computing, Indiana University Get Onboard Active Living(G.O.A.L.) is a local 12-week program focused on improving children’s nutritional, behavioral, mental, and overall wellness through parent and group support. This research team will create a customized mobile application designed to assist G.O.A.L. participants in tracking their physical activity and nutrition. Informed and motivated by just-in-time information, participants and coaches will have tailored tools to help reduce body mass index, increase physical activity levels, and improve nutritional habits. This grant will move the mobile app to the next steps of refinement and conducting a larger scale pilot test.
