New REDCap feature integrates EHR data for more efficient access by researchers

The Indiana CTSI Data Science and Informatics team has successfully tested and deployed REDCap CDIS (Clinical Data and Interoperability Services) in collaboration with its partners, Eskenazi Health and Indiana University Health.

This feature allows research teams to pull clinical data—such as demographics, lab results, medications, and procedures—into REDCap more efficiently. CDIS has been set up to work with both health systems’ electronic health records (EHRs): Eskenazi Epic and IU Health Cerner.

CDIS works best for new, prospective studies with an active IRB approval and clearly defined data fields.
