The Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI) and Indiana University Bloomington are excited to announce that registration is now open for this year’s annual campus retreat, “Environment Impact on Health and Well-Being,” to take place on April 24, 2024.
The event will take place in person at President’s Hall on the Bloomington campus from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will opportunities for networking as well as informative sessions on topics related to environmental health impacts such as:
– Preparedness in managing vector migration
– Environmental Health Protection and Chemical Safety Testing
– Human cells in the assessment of environmental contaminants
– Moving the needle in health equity
– Environmental exposure in culturally and economically diverse communities
In addition, attendees will learn more about how the Indiana CTSI aligns with the IU 2030 strategic plan and IU Bloomington CTSI Translational Population Health Awardees.
Joel Ybe, PhD, Bloomington Navigator for the Indiana CTSI shared his excitement over bringing together leaders in translational research as well as environmental and social sciences to talk about the challenges around environment and health at this event.
“The impact of environmental factors on human health is a worldwide concern that must be dealt with at the local, state, and federal levels to maintain and ensure the health and well-being of individuals and whole communities,” he said.
This year’s retreat will feature keynote speaker Rick Woychik, PhD, Director of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. Additional speakers will include Lindsay Weaver, MD, Commissioner of the Indiana Department of Health, Doriane Miller, MD, Director of Health Equity Integration for the Institute of Translational Medicine at University of Chicago, and Ivan Rusyn, PhD, Professor, Department of Veterinary Physiology and Pharmacology, School of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences at Texas A&M University.
Service cores from IU Bloomington will also showcase their services during a poster session.
The event is free and open to everyone.
