The Indiana CTSI is proud to share that Prakash Nallathamby, B. Tech, PhD, will serve as University of Notre Dame’s campus co-navigator alongside Jessica Brookshire, MSA, CHES. Former navigator Paul Helquist, PhD, is stepping down from the role at the end of the year.
“I am excited to welcome Dr. Prakash Nallathamby to the team,” said Melanie DeFord, Assistant Vice President for Research and Deputy Director to the Indiana CTSI for Notre Dame.
Nallathamby is the Associate Director of Research and Assistant Professor of Practice at the Notre Dame Berthiaume Institute for Precision Health (BIPH). He brings more than 12 years of nanoparticle engineering experience to the role.
With a diverse background working in industry, academics, and as a consultant, Nallathamby says his “diverse viewpoint” will help him connect colleagues to programs, people and resources.
“For the maximum societal impact, we must strive to translate science from the lab to tangible, real-world solutions,” he said. “My goal is to shepherd as many impactful technologies as possible through CTSI to impact the target population positively.”
DeFord echoed this, citing Nallathamby’s ability to “span science and engineering” and his experience “moving things more toward translation and eventual clinical outcomes.”
The other navigators will enjoy working with Prakash and will find him an engaged partner, DeFord added.
She also expressed her gratitude for Helquist, who held the co-navigator role for three years, and additionally served as Project Development Team chair and “as an advocate for the good works of the Indiana CTSI.”
“We will miss Paul and his collegial spirit in our meetings and in our engagement with the Indiana CTSI,” she said. “I can’t thank him enough for all he has done to grow our engagement and support our researchers!”
