Are you interested in commercializing your scientific discoveries or inventions and networking with female and underrepresented researchers?
Led by the Indiana CTSI and IU Research and Technology Corp. (IURTC), Indiana University is hosting a commercialization and entrepreneurship summit on Oct. 5 at its IUPUI campus in downtown Indianapolis as part of the AWARE (Accelerating Women And underRepresented Entrepreneurs) program—a National Science Foundation (NSF)-funded partnership of the University of Louisville, IU and the Missouri University of Science and Technology.
This pilot program plans to ACCelerate Entrepreneurial SucceSS (ACCESS) of researchers who are women and/or underrepresented minorities by:
- Identifying, engaging and mentoring them to pursue entrepreneurship as a career.
- Expanding their educational, experiential and networking opportunities.
- Enhancing their competitiveness for federal grant applications.
- Creating a regional ecosystem for entrepreneurs and the sharing of best practices amongst UofL, IU and Missouri S&T
The AWARE: ACCESS commercialization and entrepreneurship summit will feature engaging and informative talks on how to use SBIR/STTR funding mechanisms to commercialize technologies, how to pitch your idea to a management team or investors, and case studies from successful investigator-entrepreneurs. The event also will include keynotes from Jesus Soriano, PhD, program director at the NSF, and Aoy Tomita-Mitchell, PhD, a Midwest entrepreneur and recipient of an NSF award through UofL; updates about the SBIR/STTR program; poster presentations by faculty highlighting their technologies; and networking opportunities for participants interested in expanding their research scope and commercialization opportunities.
