Longtime CHeP partner Karl Nichols joins Advisory Board
Karl Nichols has an extensive and impressive history of leading community organizations and after several years of being a strong CHeP partner, we are incredibly excited to welcome Karl to the board!
Since 2008, Karl has held the position of Executive Director of Community Wellness Partners in South Bend. This program strives to promote minority health through advocacy, service delivery, public relations, research and leadership, and to provide community representation for medically under-served individuals that will bring about workable solutions for addressing personal, family, and community health problems.
Prior to his work with Community Wellness Partners, Karl was the Executive Director of the St. Joseph County Minority Health Coalition and Director of Operations for Hope Ministries. Karl also serves on several other boards including the Community Collaboration Committee of the American Heart Association, St. Joseph County Community Health Alliance, and Smoke Free Saint Joe Coalition.
The common thread throughout Karl’s career is his sincere desire to serve populations that are at risk. In addition to his current position, his professional experience spans across a variety of areas including community outreach, higher education, and non-profit administration. Karl has held positions as the Director of Operations at Hope Ministries, as a Program Director at the Juvenile Services Program, and as a Career Consultant/Job Developer & Readiness Coach with the Work One program provided through Goodwill Industries.
An active participant in his community, Karl is a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., a board member of Bendix Family Physicians, and a committee member of the American Heart Association’s Community Collaboration. He is a strong supporter of lifelong learning and have obtained various certifications in cultural competency, collaborative institutional training, and organizational leadership.
Karl holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Wright State University, with a concentration in Community Mobilization; and a Masters of Arts in Criminal Justice, with a concentration in Public Administration. He lives in South Bend, Indiana with his devoted wife, and fellow minister, Janice Nichols, along with their two sons.
