Heather Eicher-Miller, PhD, an associate professor in the Department of Nutrition Science at Purdue University and partner of the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute, was recently named a member of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Department of Agriculture (USDA) 2025 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee.
The purpose of the 20-member committee is to review the current available body of work on nutrition science-specific topics to provide HHS and USDA with their advice for the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2025-2030.
The 2025 cohort will specifically utilize a health equity lens to ensure that factors such as race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status and culture are all considered as they examine the relationship between diet and health through all life stages.
Eicher-Miller brings a variety of expertise, including her previous research into food insecurity with a health equity lens, timing of dietary intake, and dietary patterns with her to this role.
