The Indiana CTSI SEED/STEM program wrapped their summer 2023 rotation up with a poster session on Wednesday, July 26. The event represented the work of 89 students from 24 high schools across seven Indiana counties. The poster session allowed the students to share their work with their families, as well as a growing network of connections made throughout the summer.
“At the core of each project are mentors and research teams that have a passion for the advancement of knowledge. Without their selfless giving of time and resources to support the students, this program could not exist, and we are grateful to each and every one of them,” said Matthew Allen, PhD, Professor of Anatomy, Physiology, and Cell Biology, who serves as faculty director of the program. “We also thank in a special way, the families, guardians, and friends that have supported the students throughout the process. They all serve an essential part of making this event a reality for their loved ones.”
The SEED/STEM program engages students in an eight-week long exploration of various sectors across the health industry. Experiences include topics such as molecular chemistry, biomedical engineering, population health, information technology, and life sciences, among others. The program matches students into research labs across IU School of Medicine, IU-Indy, IBRI and Eli Lilly.
