The Indiana CTSI is excited to announce the addition of Silvia Bigatti, PhD, as navigator for IU at Indianapolis.
“Dr. Bigatti comes to the CTSI as a well-established researcher, teacher, and mentor, and we are very excited to have her join the navigator team,” said Sajdyk. “She brings a strong skillset in public health that will complement the strengths of the other navigators and improve the support we can provide to CTSI investigators throughout the state.”
Bigatti has served as the IUPUI Liaison for the Community Health Partnerships program since 2016 as well as leading the IUI Community-Engaged Research to Impact Health Equity Consortium. Her background in clinical psychology and behavioral medicine has been key in her current work examining the stress of social determinants of health and health disparities on the health of patients using a Community Based Participatory Research framework.
In addition to her work bringing together researchers and community partners, she also co-founded the Latinx Community University Research Coalition of Indiana in 2018.
“As a Navigator for the CTSI I will serve as connector between researchers across campus and researchers in the School of Medicine,” said Bigatti. “These types of collaborations already exist and produce impactful and innovative research, however there is much more interest in collaborations that I hope to facilitate. I will also have the chance to connect researchers with resources to help them achieve their research goals.”
