On Wednesday, March 8th the Indiana CTSI and the University of Notre Dame came together to host the second of the 2023 Indiana CTSI Campus Retreat series. The event theme was “Indiana’s Impact on Global Health”.
The event saw 101 attendees who were present in person, and 61 who participated virtually.
Brad Hersh, MD, MPH, Consultant Epidemiologist in Global Health and CDC Liaison Officer to the World Health Organization presented the keynote address for the day. His presentation, “Reciprocal Innovation: Lessons Learned from COVID-19” was incredibly informative and well received by the attendees.
“It was fascinating to learn about the research and impact on global health from around the State,” said Melanie DeFord, assistant vice principal for research at Notre Dame and deputy director for the Indiana CTSI. “Our partner campuses and our local State Department of Health are doing really important things to influence health outcomes.”
In addition to the keynote, the audience was treated to presentations by researchers from Notre Dame, the IU School of Medicine South Bend, and Purdue University who have recently joined in partnership with the Midwest Center of Excellence for Vector-Borne Diseases, as well as a myriad of other incredibly insightful presentations.
