We Can Help: NIH Single Institutional Review Board Policy for Multi-Site Research

NIH funding deadlines are coming up, so it’s important to make sure you’re aware of new research policy guidelines.

Applications for human subjects research that will conduct the same protocol at multiple institutions must include a plan for compliance with the Final NIH Policy on the Use of a Single Institutional Review Board (IRB) for Multi-Site Research.
The policy requires a single IRB to provide review for all sites.
If you are working on a grant application that is subject to the policy, please contact Indiana University’s Human Subjects Office (HSO) immediately to discuss the application requirements. HSO and Indiana CTSI staff will work with you to identify a single IRB and help you budget appropriately.
Contact: Ryan Ballard at 317-278-7812 or rcballar@iu.edu.
