Listening Tour: Health Equity and Racial Justice

When:
November 10, 2020 @ 8:30 am – 10:00 am America/Indiana/Indianapolis Timezone
2020-11-10T08:30:00-05:00
2020-11-10T10:00:00-05:00

Conducted by Brownsyne Tucker Edmonds, MD, MPH, MS and Sylk Sotto, EdD, MPS, MBSA, co-leads for the Indiana CTSI’s Health Equity and Racial Justice Taskforce, focused on research and leadership endeavors.

The Indiana CTSI is dedicated to improving the health of Indiana, but it’s become increasingly recognized that health also has many structural and social determinants.  The COVID pandemic and recent national events have emphasized the need to not only understand the racial and ethnic disparities of those affected, but also to identify successful interventions to improve these well recognized issues that contribute to inequity.

Join us as we discuss how to apply the lenses of equity, diversity, and inclusion to current structures, policies, and programs as well as planning for future initiatives.

Please come prepared to discuss your campus, program, or school’s DEI efforts structured around a ‘SOAR’ (Strengths, Opportunities, Aspirations, Results ) Analysis.

Consider the following:

With respect to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion . . .

  • What are the [campus, program, school, organization’s] strengths?
  • Which opportunities exist for the [campus, program, school, organization]?
  • What would an ideal vision for the future of the [campus, program, school, organization]  look like?
  • Which measurable results would show that the future vision has been reached?
