This press release describes the economy reopening framework agreed upon by the bipartisan group of governors from Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin.

The governors indicate that the economy will not open all at once. Furthermore, they also note that while the states will closely coordinate, that doesn’t mean all 7 states will be taking the same steps at the same time. The statement indicates that their decision making process will be driven by considerations of citizen health and safety: “We will make decisions based on facts, science, and recommendations from experts in health care, business, labor, and education.”

Four factors will be closely followed while making reopening decisions:

• Sustained control of the rate of new infections and hospitalizations.
• Enhanced ability to test and trace.
• Sufficient health care capacity to handle resurgence.
• And best practices for social distancing in the workplace.
